In-app yearly billing switch

Rob, CEO & Founder2 min read

What changed

Switching from monthly to yearly billing now happens in the dashboard with an explicit confirmation step and a clear pre-charge preview. Customers on a paid monthly plan see a "Switch to yearly" option on their billing card; selecting it opens a confirmation dialog that shows the prorated amount due today (the yearly price minus credit for the unused part of the current monthly period) and the new renewal date twelve months out. After confirmation, the change applies immediately.

The visible result for customers is the absence of guesswork about what they will be charged, and an explicit step they take when they are ready.

Why we surface the charge before the click

When an action carries financial implications, we show the relevant numbers before the action is committed. Customers should not be surprised by a charge on their statement; the confirmation dialog is the moment where the trade-off — pay the prorated yearly amount today, keep a 20% discount for the next twelve months — becomes legible. The opposite direction (yearly to monthly) takes effect at the next renewal with no charge today, and the dialog says exactly that, in those words.

This change brings the dashboard in line with the wording on our public pricing page, where the same flow has been described all along. Our pricing FAQ and Sub-Processor list are public — start with whichever is most relevant to your evaluation.
