Guided Structured Data: Audit What You Have, Generate What's Missing

What Shipped

Pro plan and above customers can now run a guided audit of their site's structured data directly from the dashboard. The audit reviews the schema.org markup already on your homepage and reports what's there, what's missing, and what's present but incomplete — then walks you through generating the pieces you don't have: your site identity, an FAQ section, an article, a breadcrumb trail, or your organization details.

Already-complete markup is left alone; you only review the gaps. Each piece is checked against its own real requirements before you can move on to the next one, so what comes out the other end is markup that's actually shaped the way schema.org expects — not just present.

Why It Matters

Structured data — the <script type="application/ld+json"> block search engines and AI crawlers read alongside your page — is how a page tells a machine reader what it actually is: a set of frequently asked questions, an article with a publish date and author, a site with a name and a search action, a trail of breadcrumbs back to your homepage. Google Search Central's own structured-data documentation and the schema.org vocabulary are explicit that complete, valid markup is one of the concrete signals available to search and AI systems trying to understand a page. It is not, on its own, a guarantee of any specific ranking or citation outcome, and we don't claim otherwise — it's a well-documented input, not a promise of an output.

Most sites accumulate structured-data gaps quietly: an FAQ section added without markup, an About page missing organization details, a blog whose articles were never marked up at all. Finding these gaps by hand means reading your own rendered HTML and cross-checking it against the schema.org spec yourself. The guided audit does that read for you and turns each gap into a short, reviewable step.

What It Won't Do

The audit only ever reads pages on your own verified domain — it will never fetch an arbitrary third-party URL on your behalf, consistent with standard guidance (OWASP among others) on constraining any server-side URL fetch to a trusted destination. And it never publishes anything to your site by itself: every generated piece is yours to copy out and place, reviewed before it exists.

Part of Your AI Readiness Score

Structured Data is one of the categories behind your AI Readiness Score in the dashboard, worth up to 15 of your 100 points. If that category shows a gap, the guided audit is linked directly from the score — you don't have to go find it separately.
